First Look - Our Gear and Equipment
All our equipment is purchased with donated funds from our supporters and grants from various funds. This is but a small glimpse into into the equipment and gear that we use for various tasks and training.
Vernon SAR is considered one of the “anchor” units in the Province of BC, and has a full suite of ground rescue capabilities. Vernon SAR's resources consist of an Initial Response Truck (crew-cab equipped with a comprehensive array of rope rescue, swift-water rescue, medical and ground search equipment), a Command Truck (cargo truck equipped with computers, radios, photocopier, generator and map boards), two Jet Boats (22’ aluminum patrol boat and a 18’ extreme shallow river boat), three ATV’s, and three snowmobiles. As such, it rescue units are often requested to assist other SAR units.
ROPE RESCUE EQUIPMENT
Vernon SAR has been actively revitalizing its rope rescue equipment over the past number of years.
Rope equipment has a life span of only 5 years, as specified by the manufacturers
